Ketamine Therapy clinics in the United States

This is the national page for ketamine therapy on Regenerated.com, listing clinics across the United States that record the treatment. Ketamine therapy, also called ketamine infusion therapy, IV ketamine, ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) or low dose ketamine treatment, uses ketamine, an anesthetic that blocks NMDA glutamate receptors, at doses well below those used for surgery. Clinics give it as a slow IV infusion, an intramuscular injection, oral or sublingual tablets known as lozenges or troches, or as esketamine, a related molecule delivered by nasal spray. Psychiatrists, anesthesiologists, emergency physicians, nurse anesthetists and psychiatric nurse practitioners deliver most care, often alongside a therapist. Patients usually compare it with antidepressant medication, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and psychedelic assisted therapy trials.

The evidence picture is clearer than for many cash pay treatments, with real limits. Ketamine itself is FDA approved as an anesthetic, and its use for depression, anxiety, PTSD and chronic pain is off label. Esketamine nasal spray is FDA approved for treatment resistant depression and for depressive symptoms with suicidal thoughts, given in certified clinics under a restricted safety program. Research by Carlos Zarate and colleagues at the National Institute of Mental Health, building on earlier work at Yale, showed rapid but often short lived improvement in hard to treat depression. Evidence for PTSD, obsessive compulsive disorder, chronic pain syndromes and alcohol use disorder is growing but still investigational, and claims for anti aging or general wellness have no solid trial support. Compounded oral and sublingual products used in home programs are not FDA approved for any psychiatric use.

Candidates are generally adults with major depression or another diagnosed condition that has not responded to standard treatment, who have a prescriber or therapist involved in their care. People with uncontrolled high blood pressure, certain heart conditions, active psychosis or a history of psychotic illness, pregnancy, or a current substance use disorder are usually told to wait or look elsewhere. Anyone in crisis should contact their own clinician or the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline rather than wait for a clinic appointment.

Supply runs from hospital and university psychiatry programs, through anesthesia and pain practices with infusion suites, to stand alone ketamine clinics, mental health practices offering KAP, wellness studios and telehealth services that mail tablets for home use. Listings concentrate in large metros in states such as California, Texas, Florida, New York and Colorado, and many patients travel for an initial series before continuing care closer to home. Home programs depend on federal telemedicine rules for controlled substances, which have changed more than once, so ask how a service handles in person evaluation.

Before booking anywhere, ask who orders the treatment, who monitors you during each session, and whether staff can manage blood pressure changes and breathing problems. Ask exactly what is administered: the route, the dose plan, whether the product is commercial or compounded, and whether a therapist is part of the program. Ask for written disclosure of risks, including dissociation, nausea, raised blood pressure, bladder irritation with frequent use, and misuse potential. Ask what a quote itemizes, whether any part is billed to insurance, and what follow up and maintenance look like if symptoms return.

Ketamine Therapy in the United States, answered.

Ketamine therapy is the use of low dose ketamine, given by IV infusion, injection, tablets or as esketamine nasal spray, to treat depression and related conditions. Ketamine blocks NMDA glutamate receptors, and researchers think the resulting surge in glutamate signaling helps brain cells form new connections within hours to days. That is why some patients notice change faster than with standard antidepressants. Effects often fade over weeks, so many programs plan maintenance sessions or pair ketamine with psychotherapy.

The strongest evidence for ketamine therapy is in treatment resistant depression, where controlled trials show rapid symptom relief for many patients. Esketamine nasal spray is FDA approved for that use under a restricted program, while IV and oral ketamine for depression, PTSD, anxiety and chronic pain are off label. Studies in PTSD, obsessive compulsive disorder and addiction are promising but still early. Claims that ketamine supports anti aging or general wellness lack trial support.

Ketamine therapy in the United States is offered by psychiatrists, anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, nurse anesthetists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, often working with licensed therapists. University and hospital psychiatry departments run programs, as do private ketamine clinics, pain practices and group mental health practices offering ketamine assisted psychotherapy. Certified clinics administer esketamine nasal spray. This page does not rank providers by quality, so compare credentials, monitoring and therapy support across the listings in your state.

Ketamine telehealth providers usually prescribe oral or sublingual tablets for home use after a video assessment, and they vary widely in screening and support. Compare whether a licensed prescriber evaluates you before the first dose, whether the product is compounded, who must be present during home sessions, how blood pressure is checked, and how quickly a clinician responds if something goes wrong. No directory can name a single best telehealth service, and this list is not sorted by paid ranking.

A typical candidate for ketamine therapy is an adult with depression or another diagnosed condition that has not improved after standard medication and therapy, with a clinician already involved. People with uncontrolled high blood pressure, significant heart disease, a history of psychosis, pregnancy or an active substance use disorder are usually advised against it. Anyone having thoughts of suicide should contact their own clinician or call or text 988 first, since ketamine programs are not emergency services.

The cost of ketamine therapy is driven by the route, IV infusion or esketamine in clinic versus tablets at home, the monitoring staff required, whether therapy sessions are included, the length of the initial series and maintenance plans. Insurance more often covers esketamine than IV or oral ketamine. This page publishes no averages because quotes bundle different services and change often, so a single figure would mislead. Ask each clinic for an itemized written quote.

Checking a ketamine clinic starts with its clinicians rather than its marketing or review scores. Every state medical board offers a free online license lookup, and the Federation of State Medical Boards links to all of them, showing active status and disciplinary history. Check board certification through the American Board of Medical Specialties, and for nurse practitioners use the state nursing board. Read patient reviews for detail about monitoring, follow up and communication, not just star ratings.

Organic order on this ketamine therapy page is never sold, so no clinic can buy a higher place in the national list. Featured slots are clearly labeled and capped in number. Verified means the clinic completed credential checks, not that it paid. Regenerated.com is free for patients, and inclusion is not an endorsement. To narrow the list, open your state hub below it, then a city hub, to build a local shortlist.
